Because I wanted to share my written thoughts of life and travel with friends and family, I decided to teach myself how to design a website, instead of bombarding their inboxes with potentially unwanted emails. It was after my South American trip in 2002 that I opened up an html book and began reading. Seven months later, I created the first version of my writing/travel website: vicariousvagabond.com. It's currently on its third version.

Now, over five years later, I own 10 different domain names; all in various stages of development. I've acquired a vast amount of knowledge when it comes to all things web-related due to the excessive time I've spent designing, redesigning, tweaking, fixing and screaming at my personal sites. And it's this experience that I can lend you.

Sites That I've Designed

ddestinations.comddestinations.com
I love travel and when I met a travel agent friend of mine, I couldn't resist offering my services to update her site. The new site is better organized with far more information on dream destinations all over the world. It is up-to-date, clean and attractive and makes me want to buy a plane ticket somewhere!

aaronart.comaaronart.com
Aaron Wilson is a very talented local artist and was in need of a website to showcase some of the work he has done and to reach a broader audience. The design of the site is very simple using black and white so the art, which is in mostly color, really stands out because that is the focus of the page.

12beaches.com12beaches.com
With the popularity of thurstythirsday.com, I was commissioned to design a site for a Hood-to-Coast relay team named the 12 Beaches. The original site was done in a few hours just before the race. This year, it went through a major overhaul months in advance of the race. It far more pleasant to look at with plent of photos and humorous bios of the crazy 12 Beaches.

A co-worker of mine saw my design work for our firm's new website and asked if I could give his rental beach house site in Lincoln City a facelift. The new site much easier to navigate with a cleaner look using soft blue tones with gray sand background, similar to the landscape of the Oregon coast.

At the request of some of my friends (okay, so I volunteered), I designed a website for a group of folks that like to meet up on Thursdays for a pint or two. The purpose of the site is to update the destination of the next watering hole and to post photos of the good times we've had around Portland.

silverfallscreamery.com silverfallscreamery.com
Through a mutual friend, I met the owners of Silver Falls Creamery, a goat cheese farm located just east of Salem, Oregon. The site is a tool to market their unique product and get the name of their delicious cheese out there for all to see.

hhpr.com hhpr.com
My firm's web site was in desperate need of a complete overhaul. The original site had been up since the late '90s. So after a couple of redesigns and input from the owners, we came to an agreement on the look and feel. It is now a modern looking site with dynamic pages and offers plenty of information about our company.

My firm was selected to design a new park in Clackamas County on SE 162nd Avenue. The park will have several ball fields and other amenities for the community. I designed the site to allow the public to give their input on the preferred design of the park.

civiltools.com hhpr.com/civiltools
Our firm developed and designed civil engineering software that we sell to engineering firms across the United States. Originally, a few pages were dedicated on our corporate website, but now Civil Tools has it's own place on the web and will soon have it's own dedicated domain name.

se 172ndhhpr.com/172nd
I designed this site for my work. It is a public involvement site to let the local residents know of the happenings of future improvements to the streets in their neighborhood. This is for SE 172nd in Clackamas, Oregon.

sunnysidehhpr.com/sunnyside
This also was a work-related site for a public involvement project. The Sunnyside Road project in Clackamas, Oregon has been an ongoing project for several years now. I updated the site recently to reflect a more modern look and to better organize the information. This site features collapsible text to minimize lengthy pages.

trolleytrailhhpr.com/trolleytrail
This also was a work-related site for a public involvement project. When completed, the Trolley Trail will connect neighborhoods, schools, parks, retirement communities and business districts between Milwaukie and Gladstone and complete a missing link in Metro's regional trail system.

vicariousvagabond.comvicariousvagabond.com
This is my personal writing/traveling site. It's just been revamped. It incorporates a WordPress blog with a search field to find various writings. The photo page also has a great Flash slideshow with a gallery selector to view several different photo galleries each with a different song that plays along.
